Benjamin Bischoff on test automation and software craftsmanship

I am a test automation engineer at trivago N.V. (ex Senior Automation Engineer at Ubisoft Düsseldorf) writing and talking about software development and testing.

Having been a part of a few Selenium conferences before, I had a feeling about how great the 2025 edition was going to be. So three of my trivago colleagues and I set off to travel to Valencia, Spain to attend the conference.

I was recently interviewed by Selenium Conf since I will give a talk there on June 21st.

You can read the complete interview on the conference page.

I revisited Chicago after 13 years, this time to attend my first overseas conference as a speaker - I presented my talk "Identifying Code Smells". This is my review of the conference.

For the second time ever, I will speak overseas. In March 2023, I will be at the SeleniumConf in Chicago, USA to talk about code smells!

The recording of my talk "Of plugins & decorators - trivago's e2e test framework in the spotlight" is now available! This is based partly on this blog post highlighting the framework's plugin infrastructure.

I wrote five tips for Selenium that will be shared this week by trivago tech via Twitter and Substack.

Check them out on the trivago substack page!
